Proportional Hazards Models: a Latent-risks Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a novel semiparametric version of the widely used proportional hazards survival model. Features include an arbitarily rich class of continuous baseline hazards, an attractive epidemiological interpretation of the hazard as a latent competing risk model and trivial handling of censoring. Models are tted using a data augmentation scheme. The methodology is applied to a data set recording time to rst hospitalization following clinical diagnosis of AIDS for a sample of 169 patients.

Identification of a competing risks model with unknown transformations of latent failure times
This paper is concerned with identification of a competing risks model with unknown transformations of latent failure times. The model in this paper includes, as special cases, competing risks versions of proportional hazards, mixed proportional hazards, and accelerated failure time models. It is shown that covariate effects on latent failure times, cause-specific link functions, and the joint ...
متن کاملBoosting for high-dimensional time-to-event data with competing risks
MOTIVATION For analyzing high-dimensional time-to-event data with competing risks, tailored modeling techniques are required that consider the event of interest and the competing events at the same time, while also dealing with censoring. For low-dimensional settings, proportional hazards models for the subdistribution hazard have been proposed, but an adaptation for high-dimensional settings i...
متن کاملSimulating competing risks data in survival analysis.
Competing risks analysis considers time-to-first-event ('survival time') and the event type ('cause'), possibly subject to right-censoring. The cause-, i.e. event-specific hazards, completely determine the competing risk process, but simulation studies often fall back on the much criticized latent failure time model. Cause-specific hazard-driven simulation appears to be the exception; if done, ...
متن کاملProportional Hazards Models with Continuous Marks.
For time-to-event data with finitely many competing risks, the proportional hazards model has been a popular tool for relating the cause-specific outcomes to covariates [Prentice et al. Biometrics34 (1978) 541-554]. This article studies an extension of this approach to allow a continuum of competing risks, in which the cause of failure is replaced by a continuous mark only observed at the failu...
متن کاملThe evaluation of Cox and Weibull proportional hazards models and their applications to identify factors influencing survival time in acute leukem
Introduction: The most important models used in analysis of survival data is proportional hazards models. Applying this model requires establishment of the relevance proportional hazards assumption, otherwise it world lead to incorrect inference. This study aims to evaluate Cox and Weibull models which are used in identification of effective factors on survival time in acute leukemia. Me...
